My March 1 blog post shared with you my efforts with the Frenchie Hat designed by Susan B. Anderson and featured in her Itty Bitty Nursery book. I have loved this hat from the start, and couldn’t wait to make it! I confess I started it a few times because I confused myself by over thinking the directions. Any seasoned knitter wouldn’t have had a bit of trouble, but I was rather new at this.

I don’t want to keep you waiting another moment… here is Frenchie Hat on my grandson The AshMan. Asher is almost 14 months old and he just loves his new hat! He and I took the hat for a stroll this morning and he sported it like it was “made for him”! Good thing because it was! I chose these colors because he will get the most use out of it in the fall. It’s for a toddler and is just a bit large on him now. Room to grow, I always say!

There are several things I love about this hat. I love the height of it, the tassel (mine is a lot longer and fuller than the one in the book, so that part is one’s own preference) I love the seed stitching… a first for me… and the changing of color. I also love the yarn I used. The colors are Cotton Ease from Lion Brand and the brown yarn is “I love this yarn!” And can be found here.

On Sunday I finished the hat for the exception of the swirly detail, while waiting in the car for Ninja Man to come back from the store.

This is a technique that I haven’t seen before… I assume it is something Susan created but I might be incorrect on that. Anyway, you crochet onto the hat then wrap the yarn around. What a cool, cool effect! Two evenings with this and the TV and I was done!

Thanks to Susan B. Anderson for a great pattern! I am ready to start the next one now! If you have another minute, please check out my March 1 blog on the hat.

God bless you all!
