Archive for March, 2014

I love Facebook. Why? Well, first of all it helps me to know the prayer needs of others. Second to that, I get to know when neat things are happening with my kids – like the garden that my son The Boy and his wife Emily are planning.

The post showed them tilling the soil. I knew I had to do something to surprise and encourage them, so I whipped out my Cricut machine and made these:

I will add plant stakes to them so they can stand the signs in their garden. I think my grandLittles will enjoy the fun colors and shapes too!
Here’s how they came together:

First, I used Cricut Craft Room to select designs from the Cricut cartridge Freshly Picked . Once I selected the various components, I arranged them on the virtual mat, wrote down the sizes and began cutting.
It wasn’t too difficult to choose colors- earthy, garden colors worked out just fine.

A bit of trimming came next.

Some 2-way glue and a bit of placing elements together came next:

Now it was time to laminate:

I made sure to round the corners when I cut them apart since there will be some little hands in the garden!

Once finished, I took them all outside to introduce them to their natural habitat! Here they are again:

I have a few more to make but thought I’d share now just in case I forget to before I mail them.

It’s time for Favorite Things Friday at Scrap It Girl! Today we are sharing our favorite place to sit while crafting.

My favorite place is in my studio, at my IKEA desk. It’s SO functional, just the way it is designed but it’s also just the right size to accommodate my “must haves” on my workstation.

From my chair, I can see outside or watch my flat screen TV. It’s my Happy Place for sure!

Where do YOU love to sit and craft? Share your favorite spot with Scrap It Girl!

Y’all have a fabulous weekend! Thanks for stopping by, and God bless!

It’s Favorite Things Friday, and the topic is favorite recycled or refurbished item in your craft room!

This was easy for me. I have a lazy Susan that I keep on top of my workstation and it is a great tool! Not only do I keep my go-to must-haves on it, but I also have it centered so a guest crafter (usually my friend Heather) can also use it when sitting on the other side of my station.

Another favorite repurposed tool is the dental pick you see in the foreground of the photo. I’ll be honest, it freaked me out when I found it at a local hardware store, but I knew it would be a super tool to have! And it sure is- it’s perfect for teeny spots of glue or picking up tiny embellishments.

What’s YOUR favorite recycled or refurbished item in your crafting space? Play along at Scrap it Girl
