Back in the day, dad would say of a wealthy man, that the guy had “deep pockets”.

That certainly didn’t apply to me, that is until now- just not in quite the same way.

I picked up this pair of jeans in a thrift store. I’m in the process of losing weight and trying to save money, so a $4 pair of “new” (to me) jeans is just the ticket!

I bought them, brought them home, ran them through the wash and wore them the next day.

That’s when I realized, while the jeans are mostly perfect, the pockets were TODDLER sized!

My hand wouldn’t fit. My keys certainly wouldn’t fit. My iPhone? Wouldn’t fit.

I’m a stuff-it-in-my-pockets kinda girl, so this would not do. What I needed – in more ways than one – were DEEP POCKETS.

I set out to alter the pants and make them completely functional.

Here are the jeans.

First, I chose some fun fabric. Yes, no one will know it’s there except me- and well, you- but I will enjoy it tremendously!

While I failed to take a pix of the “before”, you can see where the seam is, how shallow these pockets were!

Wanna see the cute fabric? Tah-dah!

20131030-153914.jpg
See the seam? Yeah. Totally unusable. This project was a 911 and those original pockets would have meant these bad boys would stay in the closet!

So I fixed them up (in the south, we “fix” things, y’all) 🙂 and now I can enjoy some DEEP pockets- and even though not by my dad’s standards, I am happy to use them now!

20131030-154201.jpg See? It’s like our little secret!

Thanks for stopping by! And know that no matter how deep or shallow your pockets may be, God loves us all the same.

Be blessed!

Well, I’ve been super busy with my recent open house and a Stampin’ Up workshop where my hostess sold over $600 worth of beautiful and fun papercrafting supplies! This started out as just a plain mini clipboard I picked up several last year when they were on clearance. I’m hosting my Christmas Open House next weekend so I thought I’d have a few ready mades available for purchase.

First, I pulled out my mini clipboards.

20131012-002007.jpg
I had to remove the hardware, which wasn’t easy! I used these to accomplish it.

20131012-002150.jpg
I inked the sides of the clipboard with Stampin Up’s Early Expresso ink and I used Sookwang double stick tape to adhere some of that awesome Seasons of Style Designer Series Paper. (See previous post for the same paper used in the wreath project). My Stampin Up 1″ stitched grosgrain ribbon provided just the right finish.

20131012-002649.jpg
I cut a few sheets of copy paper so this clipboard would be ready to use. Voila! A sweet little gift idea in just over an hour.

And yes, it has a little stand in back. How stinkin cute!

Thanks for stopping by! Have a blessed weekend!
